Wooly Bully was released in March 1965 and entered the Billboard charts on 3 April and remained on the charts for 18 weeks, reaching a top chart position of no. 2. Wooly Bully was recorded in Phillips Recording Studio on Madison Avenue in Memphis, Tennessee where Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Charlie Rich, Ike Turner, Howlin' Wolf, Junior Parker and many others either got their start or made many great, historic recordings.
